What is diversity in risk?
In a series of blog posts for the ICRC, CHS Alliance and ATHA, EISF’s Research Advisor unpacked some of the key questions and issues raised in EISF’s recent publication ‘Managing the Security of Aid Workers with Diverse Profiles‘.
This paper discusses how through diversity in aid worker identities there is a corresponding diversity in personal risk profiles. The blog posts focus on some of the challenges aid organisations can face when trying to balance their duty of care obligations with their staff members’ rights to privacy and equality: from threats that emanate from within organisations themselves that are caused by identity and cultural clashes, to how ad hoc approaches to aid worker identity and security may be discriminatory against aid workers with minority profiles.
